Methodology

How Personal Truth Lab knows what it claims to know.

The strength of any personal report depends entirely on the strength of the evidence behind it. This page describes, in plain language, how findings are produced and where the boundaries lie.

§ 01

Continuous traits, not types

Behavioural tendencies are measured on continuous scales rather than assigned to one of a small number of personality types. Real people rarely sit at the extremes of a category.

§ 02

Deterministic structured scoring

Assessment scores are calculated deterministically from item responses. The same responses always produce the same profile.

§ 03

Realistic decision scenarios

Alongside self-report items, participants respond to realistic scenarios. Scenario behaviour is often more revealing than opinion.

§ 04

Contradiction detection

The system flags contradictions between what you report about yourself and how you respond to scenarios, examples and observer input.

§ 05

Evidence interview

A structured interview investigates contradictions using concrete examples rather than opinions. Interview material is treated as one source among several.

§ 06

Real-life behavioural check-ins

Seven days of brief daily check-ins convert stated tendencies into observable behaviour.

§ 07

Confidential observer feedback

Aggregated behavioural responses from three trusted people. Individual observers are never quoted or identifiable.

§ 08

Personal behavioural experiments

Short, structured experiments compare specific strategies for the same underlying goal to find what works for the individual.

§ 09

Confidence levels

Each finding is labelled with a confidence level — initial hypothesis, emerging, medium or high — based on the number and diversity of supporting evidence sources.

§ 10

Alternative explanations

Where a pattern has more than one plausible explanation, alternatives are stated explicitly rather than hidden inside a single conclusion.

§ 11

Limitations

The programme is a decision-support instrument. It works best for adults facing meaningful decisions and is most accurate when observers and check-ins are completed honestly.
